The only real problem with working from home offices, is that most
of us didn't know we were going to have one in the first place.
Improvisation, including the use of spare dining room chairs,
kitchen
tables or old student desks, frequently results in a
technological mare's nest.
CPU's have either been shoved under the desk, or squat
territorially
on top. System and component cables spill across the desk
top and
dribble over the side, collecting in a dusty black puddle on the
floor.
Cardboard file boxes are shoved under the desk, electrical cords,
multi-plug strips, extension cords and phone lines litter the floor.
With
the easily accessible, unsecured nature of the typical home
office, one
might just as easily find a cat napping on the keyboard,
as see crayon
marks on an important document. The residential utility
of the room is
completely sacrificed to the home office, and the space can no longer be
considered attractive. The professional capabilities of the user suffers
as well, because the working conditions are both disorganized and
unprofessional.
Simply put, it is impractical today to expect the telecommuter or any other
computer-using professional to function without adequate tools. Although
an office may be sited in residential surroundings, clearly,
traditional office furniture no longer suffices. What is
needed, (with furniture quality appearance ) is The OFFICE,
specifically designed and electronically engineered to be employed within a residential or
other non-traditional work environment. From a cost perspective, The OFFICE
does not require construction of walls, provision of lighting or HVAC. It uses minimal floor
space and, it is mobile. Almost regardless of the accounting method employed to evaluate
square-footage costs,
The OFFICE is a low-cost solution that pays for itself in
under
a year. From a project management perspective, The OFFICE saves
time and
costs for space-planning, design, construction and
installation.
