ESTATE This is a finely made ladies 14k white gold Ruby and Diamond ring weighing 4.1 grams. The ring contains one prong-set faceted oval cut natural mined Ruby as tested on GEM Refractometer, measured as set at approx. 9.5 x 7.5 x 4.5 and calculated to weigh approx. 2.5 carats. It would also make a very beautiful engagement ring. The natural mined Ruby is cradled between eight (8ea) prong set .025 ct. round brilliant cut diamonds, mounted four to a side, with an additional ten (10 ea) prong set diamonds weighing approximately .03 ct ea and mounted five to a side in channels on the top half of the shank. Total diamond weight is approximately .50 cttw. Gemstone Clarity is SI, diamond color is G-H. Ring size is 6.25. Total precious gemstone weight is 3 carats. The overwhelming
majority of rubies on the market today have undergone some type of
clarity or color enhancement. This natural mined ruby is no exception,
and our inspection indicates that any such enhancement beyond traditional
heat treatment, would be described as minor. This is a very beautiful
ring.
In the jewelry industry, it is assumed that rubies have been heat treated unless otherwise specified. Other treatments are available to the jewelry industry such as fracture filling, oiling, etc. Rubies which have undergone NO enhancement of any kind are very rare, may cost in excess of $20,000 per carat, and are available upon request. If that is the caliber stone you seek, please let us know and we'll be happy to present you with photographs and prices. In order for you to be able to accurately appreciate the color of this Ruby, for additional comparison purposes, we've paired two natural faceted oval cut Rubies with gowns of similar color and then placed them side by side. Below, on the left, you will see a loose natural Ruby in a frequently seen shade of red. To its right is the subject ring, set with a Ruby possessing a deep, rich, velvety color, more closely matching the certified Pigeon's Blood ruby seen in the photo above.
