The late Professor Mahlon A. Cline, retired as an Art Director from New York, where for years he directed the curriculum for young aspiring artists, at Pratt Institute as Director of both evening and day programs; at the same time he was actively engaged in design for business and industry.
A long time resident of Stuart, Florida, Cline was a prolific painter who drew inspiration from his surroundings. In his retirement, Cline demonstrated painting techniques, critiqued paintings for various art groups, judged many art festivals and wrote a paper, --"Guide Lines for Judging Works of Art". In 1987, his book, "Monographs - Abstract and Expressionistic Painting - From Reality To Abstraction" was published by LighthouseGallery, Inc.of Tequesta, Florida.
Mahlon Cline's paintings treat composition and color in an impressionistic style, subdued, harmonious color often approaches the abstract.
Modern methods and techniques have added new dimensions to painting. In viewing or exploring the new varieties of painting techniques, we should keep ourselves unprejudiced and remain willing to share the many styles and contradictory approaches to representative or abstract painting.--Mahlon Cline
