THE KITTENDORF FAMILY MEMORY PROJECT
ABOUT: THE KITTENDORF FAMILY MEMORY PROJECT:
Several of us have spent bits and pieces of the past few decades sifting
through genealogical records, hunting for information about the Kittendorf family,
searching for everything from the history of distant ancestors to the whereabouts
of present day descendants.
Currently there are representatives of at least two branches of the descendants of Johan Rudolf Martin Kittendorff working on this project.
I began my own Kittendorf research back in the early 1970's. By chance I recently
happened upon a Kittendorf descendant, from the same generation as my own sons.
We're pooling our research so that Kittendorf descendants will have access to
their combined family history.
Over the years we've uncovered bits and pieces of raw data, even some hitherto
unknown photos. We're looking for more.
But one of the things we'd really love to learn is... WHO ARE these people?
For example....
Do present day family members physically resemble those who came before them?
In many cases, yes.
What did they do for a living? Has there been a continued family interest in
certain professions?. Again, in many cases, yes.
And so we search our own memories.....
What made a particular relative memorable to you or to your parent or to your
grandparent?
What were your parents or grandparent's favorite stories?
What made them laugh? What broke their hearts?
What were their talents, and what were their strong suits?
What captured their imaginations?
Where did they live? Where, when, and how did they die?
Because the days when we could simply say "Go ask Dad, he'll remember",
are gone, please consider this your opportunity to pool the family's collective
resources and let's leave what we still remember to our own children.
What we have gathered to date can be found here, on these pages.
Do you have in your possession photos of your parents, their parents, or any
of your other ancestors?
Do you have photos of your own family you'd care to share?
Please take a few minutes, go through your own albums and send us scans of your
favorite photos.
Office Depot can scan any photo to a .jpg format in a managable size and save
it to a floppy disk or a CD.
Got a memory you'd like to share?
