Sam Kittendorf (son of Olaf Kittendorff and Vacht Gustaftson) Sam Kittendorf was born in Sweden on April 8, 1884. He died date unknown in USA . His World War I Draft Registration Card, filled out when he was
34 years of age, lists his name only as Sam Kittendorf,
giving no middle name, notes that he was not a naturalized citizen, gives
his profession as blacksmith, and shows his employer as being The Pollak
Steel Company. In September of 1918, the military describes Sam as being
5'10" tall, having a medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The 1920 Chicago city census shows Sam at age 35, states that he arrived in the U.S. in 1902, and that he became a citizen in 1915. Members of the household were Sam, 35, his wife whose name is spelled Hilda, 37, (mis-transcribed as Milda Mittendorf) and their son Edgar, age 6. Sam rents his home, and his profession is shown as Laborer, at a Foundry. The 1930 Chicago city census shows Samuel Kittendurf age 46 (b. 1884) married to Hilda, age 47 with son Edgar, age 16. Sam was 29 at the time they married, his wife was 30. Census records state that Sam was born in Sweden, as were his parents, that he arrived in America in 1901. His wife was also born in Sweden, as were her parents, and she arrived in 1907. In this 1930 census, just after the stock market crash of 1929, he states that he had not worked the day before the census was taken, and lists his profession is Carpenter on Steam Railroad. Census notes state that he was not a veteran, gives his unemployment number as #521, and states that he is a naturalized citizen. He married Hilder ( her name is spelled Hildur on his Draft Registration Card and Hilda on the 1930 census). Children of Sam Kittendorf and Hildur are said to be: 1. +Edgar Kittendorf, born in Illinois,
about 1914, who married Nora..An Edgar W. Kittendorf who was born in 1914
is shown to have died on 11 May 1999. Residences shown are located in
Winnetka, Ill., and Northfield, Ill. His last place of residence is shown
as being: 53934 Friendship, Adams, Wisconsin, United States of America.
